Peel and reveal labels are multi-layered labels that can be peeled open to reveal additional information hidden within the layers. These labels are ideal for products that require extensive information, such as pharmaceutical items, cosmetics, and food products, or for promotional activities like competitions.
We offer two types of peel and reveal labels: wet peel and dry peel.
• Wet Peel Labels: These labels are designed to be opened and resealed multiple times. The layers are coated with a siliconised lacquer, except for sections that create a permanent spine and retention tabs, ensuring the label remains intact after being peeled open. Wet peel labels are typically used for product information, allowing consumers to access and review details without damaging the label.
• Dry Peel Labels: These are intended to have a section peeled up and usually removed, often used for promotional activities. The dry peel labels are perfect for competitions where a variable data code is either on or beneath the peelable element. Once peeled, these labels are generally not resealed, making them ideal for one-time-use scenarios.
The construction of our peel and reveal labels is a sophisticated process involving multiple layers of material, each carefully engineered to perform specific functions. Here is a step-by-step overview of how these labels are created:
1. Base layer: The process begins with the selection of a suitable base material, which provides the foundation for the label. This base layer can be made from various materials, depending on the application requirements.
2. Printing: We use flexographic presses, HP Indigo WS6900 presses, and Screen Truepress Jet L350UV+ SAI for printing depending on the requirements of the job. The first layer is printed with the necessary information or graphics. This layer can include static information, logos, or any other design elements.
3. Siliconised Lacquer Application: To ensure the layers do not fully adhere to each other, we apply a siliconised lacquer to selected areas. This coating prevents full adhesion between the layers, allowing them to be peeled back smoothly. Sections of the layer are left uncoated to create a permanent spine and retention tabs, which keep the label intact after opening.
4. Laminating Layers: The face of the upper layer is printed, its liner removed and adhesive print added before it is laminated to the lower layer. Each layer is carefully aligned to ensure precise peeling and resealing functionality.
5. Repeat Layers: The process of printing, applying siliconised lacquer, and laminating is repeated for each layer. This method ensures that all layers are perfectly aligned and function as intended. We are able to produce peel and reveal labels up to 4 layers, yielding 7 printable pages.
6. Finishing: Once all layers are assembled, the label can be finished with various embellishments such as varnishes, laminates, foils, and screen printing. These finishes enhance the durability, appearance, and tactile feel of the labels, making them more attractive and functional.
